The modern society has grown very comfortable with the notion of being able to get what it wants. It seems to have lost the art of reusing things. Take for instance the printer toner cartridge. Nowadays people throw away their cartridges after they get over. There’s not even an idea of refilling it so that it can be used again.

The practice of throwing away old stuff once they finished and getting a new one is a ridiculous one if you come to think about it. It’s the same like disposing of one’s car and getting a new one once it runs out of petrol. It’s simply wastage of resources. The simple laser printer consists of four printer toner cartridges, each of which takes almost two litres of oil to produce. Now, isn’t that a big waste?

Most big cartridge companies do not want it’s customers to be doing this because it is here where they derive most of their profits. They simply make the people to buy new ones so that their sales go up. But it’s a very simple process if one wants to do it. In the earlier models of the printer toner cartridges, there used to be small perforations and stoppers on the cartridges where the ink could be poured inside, but they are gone now. Most of the new models come up with pretty complicated-looking mechanisms which scare the people into buying new cartridges.

There is no need to use the recycling method at this stage because the cartridge is good to go for at least a couple of more times before it becomes unusable. But surprisingly, most of the new cartridges are easy to refill though they look ominous. It generally takes a period of ten minutes at the maximum and it is ready to churn out pages once again.
