Using Cartridge Technology in Printers

Monday, September 21st, 2009

There are various forms of printers that can be found in the market.  Almost all of the printers that can be found for sale are based on a similar principle in printing technology.  This principle includes using ink to create images and text on paper.  Of course, the way in which this objective is achieved differs from printer to printer.

One most common type of printer cartridge is the ink ribbon cartridge.  This type of cartridge is generally used in dot matrix printers which are generally used in accounting applications.  These types of printers are also suited for other types of applications that require continuous paper feed.  These types of cartridges can be found very easily through the Internet or through retail shops.  One good thing about these cartridges is the fact that they are usually very cheap and thus they can be replaced very easily when they finish.

Inkjet cartridges are also very common as they are used in Inkjet type printers.  These printers use liquid ink, as the ink is sprayed directly from the cartridge through the printing mechanism.  Thus, due to this technology, you can feel the paper’s dampness after the printing process is completed.   However, one good thing about using inkjet cartridges is the fact that you can print high quality graphics and images using them.  In fact, some advanced types of inkjet printers are used to print high quality pictures directly from the camera.

The last type of printer is known as a laser printer.  This printer is used to print documents in high bulk quantity.  These printers use a special type of cartridge that is called a toner.  Toner is made up of dry ink powder that is compressed inside the cartridge.  The usage of toner allows for high quality printouts that are speedy and economic at the same time.
