Uses of Used Copier Cartridges

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

People generally throw away their used copier toner cartridges once it gets over or it shows signs of getting over. But just before chucking it in the dustbin, it might actually be worthwhile to spend some time on it. There are a host of ways by which one can save the environment from getting endangered more quickly than at the rate at which it is getting done now.

For instance, one can use the copier toner cartridge once again by refilling the cartridge which not only helps the environment but also is easier on the pocket. This helps in reducing a lot of costs rather then buying a new cartridge. The price of refilling an old cartridge with ink to use it again is minimal but the quality doesn’t get affected. Once the ink is refilled, the printer prints the pictures as good as gold. The ink is generally sold in the market in the form of refill kits which come with a set of instructions to apply. It is an easy process which is cheap and eco-friendly.

The second method is to exchange the old and used cartridges for new ones at a minimal price. There are many companies which specialize in this business. They use the old cartridges for recycling. After breaking and cleaning the old cartridges, they fill up ink and sell them again. This method is generally favoured by the environmentalists since it doesn’t involve melting of any material. It is just a recycle of the old copiers to use them again. This method is also very light on the pocket as well.

If one is not convinced by the methods to reuse cartridges, then its really advisable to dispose of the same by using proper methods by which they wont pose a threat to the environment.

Wallet-friendly Laser Toners

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Companies that have a lot of documents to print usually spend quite a fortune on their printing purposes. This cuts quite a dent into their yearly turnover. But there are a number of options which can be applied for the purpose of cutting down on the costs. A lot of alternatives are available which can be used for cheaper printing methods.

One of the first pitfalls which businesses should avoid while buying inks and toners is to go for cheap laser toners. Generally the laser toners which are super cheap also get spoilt the fastest. There are also cases where the colour cartridge might have to be changed when only one colour has gotten over. It is usually advisable to opt for a colour laser toner which includes the colour black. This is so because in the absence of black, the other colours are used up to produce black.

Secondly, when one is buying a laser toner, it is always better to make estimation about the amount of printing that needs to be done. This will help in choosing a laser toner which is more economical and suits the customer’s needs. By getting a decent knowledge about the average consumption of toner of the printer one can save a lot on the amount of toner that one needs to buy. One need not necessarily need to go searching for cheap laser toners but one can also buy the non-branded toners rather than established names. The branded ones cost a lot more than the compatible toners which work as well as their branded counterparts. Most of them even come with warranties now.

Taking heed of the above explained methods can result in a lot of savings for a company. This is helpful in the long run in today’s ultra-competitive world.

What is an Inkjet Cartridge and How does it Factor into Printer Costs

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Are you having trouble understanding your printer? Well, join the club! Most of us have a hard time understanding how it works and more importantly what type of print cartridge it takes, and which model. After all what is the difference between an inkjet cartridge and a laser printer cartridge? It took me several trips to the store, a call to the computer tech and still several months to figure out how to put my ink cartridges in, when I started in the computer industry.

Of course that was about ten years ago and things have gotten much simpler now. Before figuring out what ink cartridge you should get, you need to figure out what kind of ink your printer uses. Most home printers use a type of ink cartridge called an inkjet cartridge.

The inkjet cartridge is the part of a printer that holds the ink. It is a replaceable part, and sometimes this small cartridge has the print head too. This ink is what is put on the paper to print out what you want.

Most small printers have two inkjet cartridges, one for black printing and another for color. Although there are some printers that require a cartridge for each color, red, green, and yellow, they do this to get a better color consistency for color printing.

Some manufacturers try to protect their cartridges from being produced by other companies by placing an electronic chip that communicates with the printer on the cartridge, but most generic manufacturers also include the chip. This type of inkjet cartridge is sometimes more expensive than cartridges that do not have the chip.

This is why when you are shopping for an inkjet printer, you should pay close attention to the type of inkjet cartridge the printer uses, and ask pertinent questions of the sales person. Questions like: How easy is it to purchase the cartridges? How expensive are they? How do they influence color quality? Etc.

Toner Cartridges for Printers

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Printers have become an indispensable option in today’s world. They are used in almost all places like hotels, restaurants, offices, and even homes. Now if one is the owner of a printer he/she must be familiar with the word toner cartridge. Toner is a powder-like substance which is used in printers as ink. When the software gives the command to the printer to print the documents or scripts, then the pages are printed with the help of toner.

Printer toner cartridges are not expensive to buy. It is an essential equipment of the computer if one needs to use the printer. They can be used many times. There are many companies all over the world which specialize in refilling the toner once the ink gets over. Even the charge for refilling the printer toner cartridge is not high. If one decides to get it refilled by a reputable company like Hewlett Packard, then a warranty is available on the same.

The toner cartridges have gone through many changes in the past few years. Earlier when technology was not developed as it is today, then the toner used to be refilled by machines which would transfer the ink from a bottle to the container in the machine. But with the advancement of technology, cartridges come in disposable form now. The main advantage of using toner cartridges is to produce excellent quality black and white images on photo paper. Of course, with passage of time, the quality of the pictures has improved with the improvement in technology. Gone are the days when people had to be satisfied with grainy pictures which would get faded within a short period of time. The toner cartridges of today produce high resolution pictures which withstand the test of time.

Saving on Printing Purposes

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

As the world becomes more globalised by the day, there is a spurt of increase in the number of international and domestic manufacturers for copier toner cartridges. Generally, it’s a good sign for the customer because he gets much more options to choose from along with a decrease in price.

There are basically two types of printers- the laser printers and the inkjet printers. The laser printers use the toner and are more efficient than the inkjet series. This is because they print more quickly than the inkjet printers and also are ale to print on a wider range of papers. Also, the fact that the cost of printing per page goes down in case of the laser toner printers doesn’t hurt. On the downside, the fact that the initial cost of these printers is more than inkjet printers becomes a reason of worry for some.

In case of the copier toner cartridge becoming empty, there are a lot of options which the customer can use to start printing once again. Firstly, one can get a new OEM cartridge. This is an original equipment manufacturer cartridge and is easily available anywhere in the world. But if one wants to save some cash, the opting for a compatible or recycled cartridge would be the option to go for. Mostly, offices provide original cartridges for their daily work but one might be game enough to try out the generic or compatible cartridges which are easily available online. These cartridges are manufactured by third parties and most of them come with a warranty. This is a steal compared to the office suppliers as this is available at almost half the price of the original and it work just as fine. It would be advisable though to carry out a survey and check out a few stores before buying compatible cartridges.

Save the Environment by Using Remanufactured ink cartridge

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Kids are learning so many things, that never really seemed to matter to us when we were that age. Recently my daughter has been telling me about the many different ways I can help the environment. “turn off the water, when you brush your teeth,” “Buy an artificial Christmas tree, because it saves a tree,” “Take the train, the bus, or the bike instead of driving, to avoid throwing emissions into the air,” but one of her little snippets of advice I had never heard of before, “Use remanufactured ink cartridges in the printer.” As she said it I thought to myself, is there really such a thing?

Well, without her knowing, I secretly ran off to the nearest online site to find out about remanufactured ink cartridges.  I confess, I had ulterior motives, and they weren’t all that altruistic. I thought “hey! Remanufactured ink cartridges, are probably cheaper than the ink cartridges I buy at the office supply store.”

Sure enough, in my online quest, I came across the remanufactured ink cartridge, and guess what? They are less expensive than new ink cartridges, and so I went right out and bought them. But then I started thinking about the environment, and you know there are a lot of plastic cartridges out there that could be recycled, and now I continue to buy remanufactured ink cartridges, not because of their price, but because I am helping the environment, and on the “clean up the environment mission” with my daughter.

Think about it! Shouldn’t everyone be using remanufactured ink cartridges, and turning their old cartridges in to be recycled. It may not be much help, but think about it: How many millions of people use a printer, and thus ink cartridges? How many trash bags do you think those old, used ink cartridges could fill up? I bet its measured by the truck loads!

Sale of Toners

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

In modern times, it has become almost an impossibility imagining a world where there are no printers being used. Looking around, it’s hard to find a place where the use of printers is restricted. Restaurants, hotels and offices use the printer extensively for their daily transactions. The use of printers has escalated rapidly in homes as well in the past few years. For all this, the use of toners is mandatory. There is an alternative in the use of ink for printing. But ink can be used only in inkjet printers which are not much in vogue right now.

Laser printers which apply the services of toners are evidently superior in functioning to inkjet printers. There are many aspects which can prove this. For instance, the laser printers are able to print higher quality pictures than the ink jet ones. They can handle a heavier workload than the inkjet printers. So in all this, the use of toners is important because laser printers can work only with toners. Thus toner sale is seen by everyone as a highly easy means of profit. As a result, there has been a recent spurt of increase in the number of domestic and international manufacturers of toners.

There are many aspects to toner sale practices. There are lots of companies which specialize in selling only original trademarked toners for their own laser printers. Then there are third party companies who specialize in manufacturing toners for a variety of printers available in the market. On a comparative basis, the compatible toners are cheaper than the OEM toners. Then there are companies which recycle the old and used toner cartridges and refill them so that they can be sold again. Almost all the third party companies come up with a warranty, which has made the competition tough in the toner market.

Reusable Printer Toner Cartridges

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The modern society has grown very comfortable with the notion of being able to get what it wants. It seems to have lost the art of reusing things. Take for instance the printer toner cartridge. Nowadays people throw away their cartridges after they get over. There’s not even an idea of refilling it so that it can be used again.

The practice of throwing away old stuff once they finished and getting a new one is a ridiculous one if you come to think about it. It’s the same like disposing of one’s car and getting a new one once it runs out of petrol. It’s simply wastage of resources. The simple laser printer consists of four printer toner cartridges, each of which takes almost two litres of oil to produce. Now, isn’t that a big waste?

Most big cartridge companies do not want it’s customers to be doing this because it is here where they derive most of their profits. They simply make the people to buy new ones so that their sales go up. But it’s a very simple process if one wants to do it. In the earlier models of the printer toner cartridges, there used to be small perforations and stoppers on the cartridges where the ink could be poured inside, but they are gone now. Most of the new models come up with pretty complicated-looking mechanisms which scare the people into buying new cartridges.

There is no need to use the recycling method at this stage because the cartridge is good to go for at least a couple of more times before it becomes unusable. But surprisingly, most of the new cartridges are easy to refill though they look ominous. It generally takes a period of ten minutes at the maximum and it is ready to churn out pages once again.

Refill for Printers

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

In this modern world where the uses of printers are many and varied, it is not surprising if one gets stuck with an empty cartridge in the middle of printing important documents. The most common reaction to this would be to throw the empty cartridge and install a new one in its place which probably has a high price attached to it. However, if one stops to think about it, then surely refilling the cartridge with a sophisticated toner would have been more pocket-friendly as well as eco-friendly.

There are many toner refill options available to people nowadays with the onset of technology and it’s definitely a lot cheaper. A whole wide range of toner refill kits are available in the market. People can decide which one is best suited for them depending on the budget, work requirements and the printer specifications. This helps them to select something which reduces their cost of printing to the minimum.

The invention of toner refill kits has helped many people bring down the cost of their printing activities. For instance, one can buy a brand new cartridge for $70 which can give an output of 3000 pages while a toner refill kit which costs around $15 can give a comparable number of prints and little difference in quality. There are many other benefits of using toner refills among which compatibility with a lot of laser printers counts high up on the list.

Among the rest of the little benefits which one gets to experience on using the toner refills are highly vibrant and colourful prints. These colours are often more colourful than the prints from the original cartridge itself. Also, the toner refills come with warranties which don’t void the printer’s warranty and so can be safely used without any worries.

Recycling Ink Cartridges

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

When one hears the word recycle, the first thought that comes to the mind is the idea of saving nature from the atrocities of pollution. It is a process of trying to conserve natural resources of the planet in the form of raw materials or in their basic form. Basically, this idea has been in existence for a very long period of time, almost as long as the existence of man himself.

As the world gets more modern and technology-dependent, the invention of computers has contributed largely to the degradation of natural resources. The widespread use of the same has rendered the earth a bio-medical hazardous place. When one uses a computer, it is almost imperative that he would use a printer. The ink cartridges have become a source of pollution because of the toxic materials which it possesses and also largely by the careless way in which we dispose of it.

Most of the governments all over the world have come up various ideas that would help in recycling ink cartridges. Some of the more prominent and worthy ideas include sending the parts of the used ink cartridges to funding organizations that collect and recycle the same. Of course, it is up to us to make up our minds and contribute towards the process. Another method which the government has suggested to recycle ink cartridges is to donate them to charitable organizations. These organizations, in turn, distribute these among the less fortunate people of society. These people send the used cartridges to the recycling plants and thus are able to get some money which is used to get education. This monetary benefit is also used in supporting schools, churches and the like.

There are also many sites on the internet which give detailed methods of recycling cartridges. So one doesn’t need to sit back and waste time wondering.
